Something happened to the Darwin Fringe Festival a few years ago. After over ten years of helping emerging artists find a platform, it  just disappeared. No one was sure where it went. There were lots of theories. Some thought it might have got into a fight on Mitchell st, when it heard one too many cover songs.  Others thought it might have been buried in the new apartment blocks built on the mangroves of old Darwin. Some just thought it might have gone on holiday to Bali. But the years passed and it didn’t come back and we all wondered why.  There was even an investigation funded by the Government, to find out what happened to it, and if we even needed to bring it back at all...

Luckily it’s the artists who get to decide on these things, and a new generation of emerging creatives in Darwin have inspired the Fringe to return. It turns out she’s been here all along, and she’s been busy; building new venues, making new friends, and she’s got a whole new body of work to share with us.
So welcome back Darwin Fringe Festival!  We missed you!!
